Marisca: We must deal with the noise of rival fans, and winning is our voice in matches
Enzo Maresca, the head coach of Manchester City, spoke about the difficulties his team faced during their win against Liverpool by three goals to nil at Anfield, noting the improvement in the second half. He also emphasized the importance of dealing with the noisy crowd atmosphere during away matches.
Mariska reflected on the match, stating: "The conditions were very difficult, and the atmosphere was tough. We struggled in the first half, as we were good when we had the ball, but we were not at the same level when we did not have possession. We made some adjustments in the second half, and our performance improved significantly. We were not making the right decisions in building our attacks, but we improved in the second half."
Speaking about the atmosphere at Anfield, Manchester City manager said: "We need to learn how to deal with the noise, because this atmosphere will accompany us in all our away matches, and there will always be noise that we have to deal with and create our own noise. Our noise is represented in winning matches, the feeling at the end of the match, with our fans and their voices, it's a wonderful feeling, and it's a different kind of noise."
When asked if the atmosphere was more intense than usual, he replied: "I don't know for sure, as I came here with Manchester City once before, during the season we achieved the treble. It was great to play a match of this kind, in this noise and this atmosphere. We have to make our own noise and deal with theirs."
Mariska discussed how off-field issues might contribute to team cohesion, saying: "Maybe yes, maybe no, I don't know, it could help create a sense of unity with the fans. I said during the week that they need to show passion and make noise, and I hope we can celebrate a win, that's the only thing we can focus on."
Regarding his players' performance and the team's goals, he said: "The performance was exceptional, Jérémy Doku played extremely well, and we need to take care of him, he is an important player, but he has just returned from injury, everyone else's performance was fantastic."
He added: "With an extra player, keeping the ball became easier, but I am very happy to get the three points."
He confirmed: "I cannot control the things that happen outside of football, so why should I occupy myself with worrying about them? What concerns me is the game plan and training sessions day by day, while the rest of the matters are not in my hands."
