Manchester City maintain Premier League lead with win over Liverpool
Manchester City achieved a significant win against Liverpool with a score of 3-0 in the match that took place today, Sunday, at Anfield, as part of the sixth round of the Premier League. The Sky Blues clinched the encounter with three goals in the second half.
The first half ended in a goalless draw, but the match changed in the 62nd minute when Liverpool's Dutch player Ryan Gravenberch received a second yellow card, leaving the pitch after being sent off and forcing the home side to continue the match with ten players.
Manchester City took advantage of the numerical disadvantage quickly, with Erling Haaland opening the scoring in the 65th minute, before Jérémy Doku added the second goal in the 68th minute with a stunning shot that found the far corner of Liverpool's net.
The Sky Blues continued to dominate the game, taking advantage of their numerical superiority, until Rayan Cherki managed to score the third goal in the 78th minute, finishing off a well-organized attack with a calm touch inside the penalty area, confirming Manchester City's victory and sealing the three points.
With this victory, Manchester City has increased its tally to 18 points at the top of the Premier League table, while Liverpool's points remain at 9 in ninth place.
