Arne Slot returns to the forefront through UEFA

Dutch coach Arne Slot has returned to the football scene through UEFA, having joined the group of technical observers for the analysis of matches in the European competitions during the 2026-2027 season, following his departure from managing Liverpool this summer.

UEFA has announced the inclusion of Slot in the group of technical observers for the Champions League, which includes a number of prominent coaches and experts, including Gareth Southgate, Roberto Martínez, and Ange Postecoglou, to benefit from their expertise in studying the developments of the game at the highest levels.

The group's mission is to monitor and analyze matches from European competitions using statistics and video recordings, with the aim of preparing specialized technical reports that track the latest tactical trends and training methods, and sharing these analyses with the football community to benefit from them in developing the game.

Slot has notable experience in European football, having made a name for himself with Feyenoord, leading them to win the league and cup titles in the Netherlands, before moving to Liverpool in 2024, where he successfully guided the team to win the Premier League in his first season.

The new role gives the Dutch coach a chance to stay close to the pitch and follow the key tactical developments in European football, while he awaits his next coaching step after stepping away from club management following his time with Liverpool.
