Jesus happy with the win, and what happened will not divide the group
Georgie Jesus, the head coach of the Portugal national team, expressed his great happiness at the victory over Denmark with a score of 4-2, confirming that the team continues to develop from match to match, despite the controversy surrounding the team in recent days due to the Cristiano Ronaldo crisis.
Jesus expressed his satisfaction with the victory in comments reported by RTP: "What pleased me the most is the win, as is clear. This was our third match, and I feel that the team is improving from game to game. We are developing through match analysis, and in the next match, the team usually delivers a better performance, both defensively and offensively."
He added: "Winning 4-2 here is not easy. Denmark is a big team and difficult to stop, with great technical quality and strength in set pieces. We were good again defensively in this aspect."
The Portuguese manager praised his players' ability to implement high pressing, saying: "I really liked the pressing and the way the team believes in defensive pressing. It is very difficult to play this way. Holmund congratulated me and said that the Portugal national team is playing wonderfully."
He continued: "I do not have a group under my control. I have a group that believes in the coach's idea. They believe in my ideas, and since they have great individual quality, things become easier. If this means that the group is under my control, then yes, because they walk alongside me and my ideas."
Jesus addressed the events leading up to the match against Denmark, mentioning Cristiano Ronaldo's departure from the national team's camp before traveling to Denmark. He emphasized that these developments did not affect his focus.
He said: "After the next match, we will see what happens. Until then, I must focus on the upcoming match, just as I was focused on today's match."
When asked about the difficulty of maintaining focus amidst everything that has happened over the past few days, Jesus replied: "For me, it's not hard to focus. Do you know what is hard for me? Not understanding what is happening inside, and not knowing how to train my players. That is hard for me. As for the rest... zero."
Portugal's coach concluded his remarks by affirming the cohesion of the group, stating: "What matters is what we have to do. The things that happen do not divide the group, have not divided us, and will not divide us."
