Cristiano Ronaldo faces the prospect of disciplinary action from the Portuguese Football Federation after leaving the national team's camp in the Danish capital Copenhagen ahead of the match against Denmark in the UEFA Nations League.

According to the disciplinary regulations of the Portuguese Football Federation, a player regularly called up to the national team who leaves the camp or misses training, a match, or any team activity without justification may face a suspension of one to six months, along with a fine ranging from 5 to 10 accounting units, approximately 500 to 1000 euros.

Article 160 of the regulations also states that absence or leaving the camp may lead to an automatic precautionary suspension of the player in accordance with the applicable disciplinary procedures.

However, the punishment has not yet been issued against Cristiano Ronaldo, as the six-month period represents the maximum potential penalty. It remains the responsibility of the disciplinary bodies of the Portuguese Football Federation to determine whether the player's departure constitutes an unjustified violation, as well as to establish the final penalty.

Cristiano Ronaldo had announced his departure from the Portugal national team camp after the press conference of coach Jorge Jesus, and following a conversation he had with the president of the Portuguese Football Federation, Pedro Proença, confirming that he will reveal later the reasons that led him to make this decision.

The crisis comes after Cristiano Ronaldo remained on the bench and did not participate in Portugal's 2-1 win over Norway, despite taking part in the warm-up. This caused a state of discontent for the national team captain, before events escalated to his departure from the camp.

Consequently, Cristiano Ronaldo currently faces the risk of a suspension of up to six months and a financial penalty according to the regulations, at a time when reports have confirmed that the star has already decided to retire from international play and that his decision is final.
