Sports ministry moves to calm tensions within Egypt national team

Mohamed El-Shazly, the official spokesperson for the Egyptian Ministry of Youth and Sports, revealed efforts led by Jawhar Nabil, the Minister of Youth and Sports, to address the tension within the Egyptian football system in recent days, particularly in light of the crises surrounding the national team.

El-Shazly explained in television statements today, Monday, that the ministry is continuously monitoring all details related to the sports system, with a special focus on the Egypt national team and its participation in the Africa Cup of Nations Qualification.

The recent crises involving some parties in the football system and the coaching staff of the national team led by Hossam Hassan prompted the minister to intervene, confirming that the situation is currently moving towards calm and resolving the disputes.

The ministry spokesperson confirmed that the priority is currently to provide suitable conditions for the Egypt national team during their stay in Juba, ahead of their match against South Sudan, as well as ensuring the safe return of the delegation to Cairo after achieving a positive result.

Chadli has revealed that further actions are expected to be implemented in the coming days, following the return of the South Sudan national team, with the aim of calming the situation among various parties in the football system and working to restore stability.

He added that Jawhar Nabil has made contacts with Hani Abou Rida, the president of the Egyptian Football Association, as well as the coaching staff of the national team and several concerned parties, emphasizing the ministry's keenness to move in a more profound and impactful manner to end the state of tension that has been witnessed in recent times.

Regarding the national team, Al-Shazly confirmed that the atmosphere within the delegation in South Sudan is reassuring, explaining that the crises recently raised through media and social media have not negatively affected the players' preparations for the upcoming match.

The spokesperson addressed Mohamed Salah, the captain of the Egyptian national team, emphasizing that the Liverpool star represents great value and is an icon for Egyptian sports, not just football.
