Officially.. Mohamed Abdelmonem out of South Sudan clash

Ibrahim Hassan, the director of the Egypt national team, has confirmed that Mohamed Abdelmonem has been excluded from the squad of the Pharaohs that is departing today for South Sudan, in preparation for the match on Tuesday in the second round of the qualifiers for the Africa Cup of Nations 2027.

Ibrahim Hassan explained that the decision to exclude the Nice defender was due to the player having previously undergone surgery on his cruciate ligament, along with medical warnings against playing on the artificial turf in South Sudan.

The Egypt national team manager indicated that the decision was based on a medical report from Nice regarding Mohamed Abdelmonem's participation on this type of pitch.

The Egypt national team departs today for South Sudan to face the host team on Tuesday in the second round of the qualifiers for the Africa Cup of Nations 2027.

The Egyptian Football Association has announced that Mohamed Salah will also miss the match against South Sudan for the same reason, amid tense atmosphere within the national team's camp due to recent comments from coach Hossam Hassan.
