Officially: Javier Aguirre is the new coach of Valencia

Valencia have officially announced the signing of Mexican coach Javier Aguirre to lead the first team until the end of the current season, with the club retaining the option to extend his contract for an additional season.

Aguirre, 67, arrives at Valencia after leading Mexico in the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where they reached the Round of 16. This was his third participation with the Mexican national team in the World Cup finals, following the 2002 edition in Korea and Japan and the 2010 tournament in South Africa.

The Mexican coach has extensive experience in La Liga, having previously managed Osasuna, Atlético, Real Zaragoza, Espanyol, Leganés, and Real Mallorca, along with international stints with clubs and national teams in Japan, the United Arab Emirates, Egypt, and Mexico.

One of the highlights of Agerre's achievements in Spain is leading Osasuna to qualify for the UEFA Champions League, while on the international stage he won the CONCACAF Gold Cup in 2009 and 2025, and the Concacaf Nations League for the 2024-2025 season with the Mexico national team. He also won the Mexican league title with CF Pachuca in 1999 and the CONCACAF Champions League with CF Monterrey in 2021.

Javier Aguirre will be officially presented as the new manager of Valencia in front of the media on Monday, September 28, in the press conference room at the Mestalla Stadium.
