Saudi sports minister sends message to Al Ahly players ahead of Sundowns clash

Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al-Faisal, the Minister of Sports, has sent a message of support to Al-Ahli players ahead of their upcoming clash against Mamelodi Sundowns.

Al Ahly are preparing to face off on Saturday afternoon at Loftus Versfeld Stadium in Pretoria to determine the champion of the 2026 Intercontinental Cup, which includes teams from Asia, Africa, and the Pacific.

The Minister of Sports expressed his wishes via his account on the 'X' platform for success for the national representative against Sundowns in the Africa-Asia-Pacific Cup final.

Al-Faisal expressed his confidence in the Al Ahly players, hoping the team delivers an outstanding performance and continues its successful journey in the Club World Cup.

Al Ahly has achieved a remarkable record in the tournament, becoming the first club to participate in the FIFA Club World Cup for the second time, following their appearance in the previous edition.

Al Ahly's first participation in the tournament was during the last edition against Pyramids, before renewing their presence in the 2026 edition by facing South African side Sundowns.

Al Ahly are looking forward to the continental clash with significant fan support, as a number of their supporters have travelled to Pretoria to back the team in the upcoming match.
