Arsenal thrash Ipswich 4-0 to reach the 16th round of the EFL Cup

Arsenal secured their place in the fourth round of the EFL Cup after beating Ipswich 4-2 at Portman Road, with young striker Max Dowman shining.

Max Dowman opened the scoring after about six minutes, benefiting from Arsenal's pressure and regaining the ball in an advanced area, before Noni Madueke added the second goal with a powerful strike. With this goal, Dowman, who is 16 years and 258 days old, became the third youngest goalscorer in the history of the competition, behind Jack Wilshere and Cesc Fàbregas.

Max Dowman scored his second goal and Arsenal's third just 90 seconds into the second half, becoming the second player aged 16 to score a brace for a Premier League team in all competitions, after Wayne Rony. Mikel Merino then completed the four-goal haul with a shot that hit the post before settling in the net.

Anis Mehmeti pulled one back for Ipswich in the 62nd minute, before Chuba Akpom, a former Arsenal player, scored the second for the hosts in stoppage time. However, Arsenal held on to their lead until the end, securing their place in the fourth round.

Arsenal are set to face Brighton away in the Premier League on Saturday, September 19, at 5 PM Mecca time.
