Real Madrid targets Arsenal defender
Riccardo Calafiori has caught the attention of Real Madrid, with José Mourinho expressing significant admiration for the Arsenal defender's abilities, considering him the top choice to strengthen the left-back position.
TEAMtalk reports that Real Madrid are closely monitoring the 24-year-old player, who has established himself as a key figure at Arsenal since joining from Bologna in 2024, thanks to his ability to play as a left-back and center-back.
The source indicated that the Spanish club has already made inquiries regarding Calafiori's situation, and those close to the player are aware of Real Madrid's interest, which places him at the top of their options to bolster the backline during the upcoming summer, although they also appreciate Josko Gvardiol of Manchester City.
In contrast, Arsenal are holding firm on their Italian defender, considering him not for sale, especially as he is under contract with the club until 2029, which gives the London side a strong position against Spanish interest.
The source added that Arsenal are planning to discuss Riccardo Calafiori's contract renewal in 2027, but they are currently focused on extending the contracts of Jurrien Timber, Martin Ødegaard, and Declan Rice, before moving on to the Italian defender's situation.
