Ahmed Touba: Representing Algeria is a great honor and this is why I chose the national team

Algerian international Ahmed Touba expressed his great pride in representing his national team, confirming that wearing the jersey of the Greens gives him an exceptional feeling of pride and happiness, given his strong connection to Algeria, which he sees as an essential part of his identity.

Ahmed Touba has joined Le Havre during the current summer transfer window, coming from Panathinaikos on loan, in a new experience in Ligue 1.

The Algerian defender spoke about his rapid transfer to Le Havre, explaining that he did not have time to connect with Algerian players who previously wore the club's colors, including Himad Abdelli and Victor Lahl.

Ahmed Touba said: "Never, because things actually happened within just a few hours.. Panathinaikos had reached an agreement with other clubs, and I was going to leave."

He added in a lengthy interview with the official site of Le Havre: "When I got this opportunity, things really happened within five or six hours, I only had time to say hello and make sure that the harmony was there. Then I had to catch a flight the next day. Naturally, I didn't have time to call anyone, and even I wasn't really processing it. Today I am starting to understand what happened."

Regarding his international career, Touba disclosed that he has played 15 matches in the Algeria national team shirt, during which he scored one goal, affirming that the value of representing his country goes beyond numbers and statistics.

He said: "I have 15 appearances and one goal too! What does that mean for me? A lot of pride and happiness.. Representing your country, whether the match is official or friendly or part of a competition, is a great honor."

The player stated that his choice to represent Algeria was not a fleeting decision, but rather a reflection of his family roots and direct connection to the country, emphasizing that this sense of belonging has been formed since his childhood.

Touba concluded his remarks by saying: "My parents are from Algeria, I am Algerian, we used to go there every year, and I grew up there, so to speak, we spent several months there. Naturally, you learn to live like them and with them.. it's part of your identity."
