Louay Ben Farhat chooses to represent Germany after his experience with Tunisia
Tunisian Loai Ben Farhat has chosen to change his sports federation, preparing to represent German national teams in the upcoming period, according to the German platform Transfermarkt, in a move that ends his previous international affiliation with Tunisia.
Ben Farhat had previously worn the jersey of the Tunisia national team, alongside his appearances with the youth teams, before deciding to change his international representation, taking advantage of his legal status that allows him to play for Germany, as he has not participated in a major official tournament with the Tunisia national team.
The player has decided to withdraw from Tunisia's final squad for the FIFA World Cup 2026 due to not being fully fit after a previous injury.
On the club level, Ben Farhat has recently transferred to Freiburg, in a deal valued at around €7 to €7.5 million, and he will spend the 2026-2027 season on loan at Karlsruhe to continue his development and gain more experience.
The player represented Tunisia at the Under-20 level, and he played two friendly matches with the senior national team in March 2026 against Canada and Haiti before deciding to change his international allegiance.
Ben Farhat is expected to be included in the Germany U21 national team during the upcoming international break, pending the completion of the official procedures related to the change of federation.
