Manchester United Considering Move for Freiburg Striker

Manchester United have internally discussed the possibility of signing Croatian striker Igor Matanović from German club Freiburg during the current transfer window, as manager Michael Carrick seeks to bolster his attacking options ahead of the new season.

Manchester United has Benjamin Sesko as their primary striker, but Joshua Zirkzee's future remains uncertain, with Juventus showing interest in signing him. Should Zirkzee depart, the team will need a new forward capable of competing with Sesko and providing an additional option in the attacking line.

Sources close to player agents have informed "CaughtOffside" that Manchester United has discussed the possibility of signing Matanoivich, following the impressive season the 23-year-old forward had with Freiburg.

Matanoevich scored 15 goals with Freiburg last season, playing 31 matches in the Bundesliga, starting 14 of them, and netting 11 goals while providing 2 assists over 1561 minutes.

Tottenham is also monitoring the player, while Manchester United's interest in Zirkzee is linked to Juventus entering negotiations regarding a loan deal with a £30 million purchase option, according to The Sun.

Meanwhile, Zirkzee continued to participate in Manchester United's preparation period and scored a goal against Leeds. If the Dutch striker departs, Matanoivich could become a suitable option for United, thanks to his physical strength, movement ability, and potential for future development.
