Aston Villa Secures Manzambi Deal
Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Aston Villa has reached a verbal agreement with Freiburg to sign young Swiss star Johan Manzambi during the current summer transfer window.
According to Romano, the deal is valued at just over €60 million, after the German club accepted Aston Villa's offer.
He added that the English club has also reached a verbal agreement with the player and his agency regarding personal terms, with a long-term contract set to be signed with Manzambi once the official procedures are completed.
Romano noted that Newcastle United had previously reached an agreement with Freiburg for the transfer but failed to secure the player's approval on personal terms, allowing Aston Villa to step in and finalize negotiations in their favor.
Manzambi is considered one of the brightest rising talents in Swiss football, having attracted interest from several European clubs due to his impressive performances with Freiburg and his national team during the 2026 World Cup.
If the deal is officially completed, it will be one of Aston Villa's biggest signings this summer and reflect the club's ambition to strengthen its squad with young talents capable of competing in the long term.
