The German Marc André ter Stegen, goalkeeper of Ajax, revealed a significant aspect of his childhood, speaking about his father's absence since he was ten years old, affirming that this experience shaped an important part of his personality.

Marc-André ter Stegen said: "My father left when I was ten, and I never saw him again. You can't miss something you never had in the first place," explaining that his father's absence made him appreciate even more the people who stood by him, especially his mother.

The German goalkeeper added that his grandfather played a significant role in his life, serving as a father figure to him. He would constantly accompany him to training, both in good times and during difficult periods, providing the support he needed in his childhood.

Speaking about his biggest dreams outside of football, Ter Stegen said: "I want to see my children grow up and become the people they want to be, and to see them happy and free and achieving what they wish for."
