Erik ten Hag, the former manager of Manchester United, revealed that he wanted Moroccan international Sofyan Amrabat to continue with the English team after being convinced by the levels the midfielder showed during his loan from ACF Fiorentina.

Erik ten Hag, in statements reported by Sky Sports, said that Amrabat was among the players he wanted to retain, but the club's management did not share the same view, explaining: "I wanted to keep Sofyan Amrabat, but they did not want that. I think he did a great job at Manchester United."

Moroccan midfielder Sofyan Amrabat joined Manchester United in the summer of 2023, arriving on loan from ACF Fiorentina for one season. He has played 30 matches in various competitions, providing additional options for the team in midfield.

Despite Ten Hag's belief in the player's abilities and his desire to continue working with him, the English club's management decided not to activate the permanent purchase clause, ending Amrabat's experience with the team after one season. This move reflected the differing views between the coach and the club officials regarding his future.

Sofyan Amrabat's experience with Manchester United marks an important milestone in his professional career, having competed at one of the top English clubs after shining with ACF Fiorentina and contributing to their reaching the final of the UEFA Europa Conference League, as well as representing the Moroccan national team at the FIFA World Cup 2022 in Qatar.

Sofyan Amrabat joined Ajax during the last summer, on a contract that extends for two seasons, to begin a new experience in the Eredivisie.
