Liverpool have moved to sign a new goalkeeper during the current summer transfer window, in anticipation of Georgian Mamardashvili's departure to Nottingham Forest.

Nottingham Forest are keen on signing Mamardashvili, who is unhappy with his current situation at Liverpool as a backup goalkeeper.

According to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, citing journalist Sasha Tavolieri, Liverpool have made an official contact with Belgian club KRC Genk to sign their goalkeeper Luka Brugmans.

Romano explained via his account on the "X" platform that Liverpool are currently studying the possibility of signing Brugman, in the event that Mamardashvili transfers to Nottingham Forest.

Nottingham Forest have expressed a serious desire to sign Mamardashvili, who is 25 years old, before the current summer transfer window closes.

This interest has prompted Liverpool to take action to secure their goalkeeping position, in anticipation of the possibility of their Georgian goalkeeper leaving the team this summer.

Alisson remains Liverpool's first-choice goalkeeper, which has caused Mamardashvili to feel frustrated with his role as a backup.

Liverpool's management are welcoming discussions regarding Nottingham Forest's offer and permitting Mamardashvili's departure, on the condition that the financial compensation is appropriate for the club.
