Mohamed Salah Leads Trabzonspor to Victory Over Basaksehir with a Brace

Egyptian star Mohamed Salah led Trabzonspor to their first win in the Turkish league this season, defeating visitors Basaksehir 2-1 on Sunday evening in the second round of the Turkish Süper Lig at Papara Park.

Salah made an early impact, opening the scoring for Trabzonspor in the 8th minute. He returned at the start of the second half to add a second goal in the 48th minute, giving his team a comfortable advantage and marking his first contributions in the Turkish club's colors.

Thanks to his brace, Salah, aged 34, has become the first foreign player in the history of the Turkish Süper Lig to score two goals for Trabzonspor against Başakşehir during a match at the team's stadium.

The Egyptian international's impact didn't stop at the two goals, as the match also saw two other goals disallowed for not being counted legally.

According to Opta data, Salah has become the third Egyptian player to score a goal for Trabzonspor in the Turkish league against Başakşehir, following his compatriots Ayman and Trezeguet.

Despite the home team's advantage, Eldar Shakhmeradov succeeded in bringing Başakşehir back into the match, scoring the team's only goal in the 19th minute from a penalty.

The visitors tried to equalize for the remainder of the match, but Trabzonspor maintained their advantage until the final whistle, securing their first three points in the competition.

Trabzonspor's focus now shifts to European competitions as they prepare to host Hungary's Ferencváros on Thursday, August 27, in the second leg of the Europa League qualifying round. The Turkish side lost the first leg at home 1-0.

In the Turkish league, Trabzonspor will visit Amedspor on Monday, August 31, as part of the upcoming round, while Basaksehir will host Kasımpaşa on Sunday, August 30, in search of a return to winning ways.
