Jerome Boateng approaches his first coaching steps with Trabzonspor

The 38-year-old German Jerome Boateng is preparing to make a comeback in football through coaching, after Turkish media reports revealed his proximity to joining the coaching staff of Trabzonspor, a competitor in the Turkish league.

According to reports, Kevin-Prince Boateng has reached a preliminary agreement with Trabzonspor to work within the coaching staff of German coach Thomas Reis, who recently took over the team from Fatih Tekke. Boateng is expected to arrive in Trabzon in the coming period to complete the contract procedures and sign his deal.

This development comes after a difficult start for Trabzonspor, which prompted the club's management to sack Fatih Terim and hire Reis, who made a strong debut with a big win over Galatasaray, scoring four goals in the match, with Mohamed Salah netting three of them.

Kevin-Prince Boateng will join the Trabzonspor coaching staff, marking his first experience as a head coach in professional football at the first team level. The 2014 World Cup winner with Germany previously had a coaching stint with the second team of LASK in Austria, where he served as an assistant coach in 13 matches, while also playing for the first team, with whom he appeared in 9 matches.

Kevin-Prince Boateng has ended his professional playing career after his stint with LASK, having terminated his contract with the Austrian club in August 2025, and will now gradually transition into coaching.
