Rodri's Status for Elche Clash in La Liga
Spanish midfielder Rodri continues to train alone in preparation for joining Barcelona's squad, having started his pre-season later than his teammates, which delays his debut with the Catalan club in La Liga.
According to "Mundo Deportivo," Rodri trained alone for the second consecutive day on Saturday, following an individual work program, ahead of Barcelona's clash with Elche on Sunday evening, which means he will not be included in the squad for the match.
Rodri took a break after the World Cup and was unable to train with Manchester City upon his return due to his focus on completing his transfer to Barcelona. As a result, he began his preparations with fewer training sessions and at a slower pace than his teammates.
Despite this, the player's readiness is expected to improve gradually, especially since he has maintained his physical condition during the break with the help of trusted fitness coaches, which will assist him in regaining his form soon.
Barcelona will play their next match on Thursday against Athletic Bilbao at Spotify Camp Nou, in the postponed first round. They will then host Rayo Vallecano on Monday, August 31.
Rodri could become available to participate in one of the matches if he completes his fitness program and returns to training with the group.
