Barcelona Joins Race for Folarin Balogun
Barcelona has entered the race to sign American striker Folarin Balogun from Monaco during the current summer transfer window, as the Catalan club searches for a central forward following the departures of Robert Lewandowski and Ferran Torres.
According to "L'Équipe", Balogun, aged 25, is drawing attention from Barcelona, alongside Tottenham, who have been tracking the player for several weeks, without the English club taking any concrete steps to sign him so far.
Aston Villa has entered the fray for the American striker, as the club is bracing for the departure of Ollie Watkins to Saudi Arabia. Meanwhile, Newcastle's interest in the player has waned in recent days.
Folarin Balogun has returned to Monaco after representing the United States in the 2026 World Cup. He is expected to rejoin the team's training sessions in the coming days.
Monaco has included Folarin Balogun in their European squad, after the striker scored 19 goals in 43 matches last season, making him available for the second leg of the playoff round in the UEFA Europa Conference League against Górnik Zabrze.
Monaco had achieved a 3-2 victory against Gornik Zabrze in the first leg held in Poland, making Balogun a candidate to appear in the return leg once he returns to fitness.
