Another Injury Hits Pogba at Monaco
French midfielder Paul Pogba of Monaco has received another setback during the pre-season preparations for the new campaign, as he sustained a thigh injury during the team's training session today, Tuesday, at the ongoing camp in England.
Pogba was forced to leave the training ground with the help of Monaco's coaching staff, appearing affected by an injury, with a bandage on his thigh. Felipe Luis, the team's head coach, along with his teammates, made sure to console the player following his injury.
The new injury comes at a difficult time for Pogba, who has only played 45 minutes with Monaco during the current pre-season, having suffered from recurring injuries that kept him sidelined, including pain in his right knee.
Paul Pogba's last appearance was in a friendly match against Saint-Priest last July, where he played 45 minutes and contributed to Monaco's 5-2 victory. The player missed matches against Sporting, Cercle Brugge, Getafe, and Liverpool due to a right knee injury, before returning to training after several days.
Injuries continue to pose a challenge for Pogba since his return to the pitch, especially after the long absence he faced due to his suspension in a doping case, which ultimately led to his departure from Juventus.
Last season, Pogba only featured in 6 matches for Monaco, totaling just 115 minutes, due to his ongoing struggles with injuries. Despite Filipe Luis's insistence on keeping the player and valuing his experience, Pogba's future at Monaco does not seem fully resolved.
Felipe Luis spoke after the friendly match against Liverpool: "He is a player with great experience. He has had a wonderful career, and everyone wants to learn from a player like him. Of course, it's good for young players to have someone like him around."
On the other hand, Thiago Scuro, Monaco's sporting director, has opened the door to the possibility of Pogba's departure, confirming that the future of the 2018 World Cup winner is linked to his readiness during the preparation period, as well as the head coach's desire for him to remain with the team.
The new injury remains a significant factor in determining Monaco's stance on the player in the coming period, as they await to understand the severity and the duration of his absence from training and matches.
