The exit of African teams from the 2026 World Cup continues as Algeria was eliminated after losing 2-0 to Switzerland in the Round of 32, joining the list of teams that have finished their journey in the current edition.

With the departure of the "Desert Warriors," the number of African teams that have exited the tournament has risen to six, following the earlier exits of Tunisia, Senegal, the Democratic Republic of Congo, South Africa, and Ivory Coast.

The list of African teams that have been eliminated from the 2026 World Cup includes Tunisia from the group stage, along with South Africa, Ivory Coast, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Senegal, and Algeria, all of which exited in the Round of 32. Algeria's loss to Switzerland by a score of 2-0 marked the end of their campaign in the tournament.

Meanwhile, four African teams are still in contention in the current edition of the World Cup: Morocco, Egypt, Ghana, and Cape Verde, as they await the outcomes of their upcoming matches.

The quartet continues to strive for advancement to the later stages, as representatives of the African continent hope to replicate or surpass the historic achievements of African teams in previous World Cup editions.
