Algerian Football Federation Parts Ways with Petkovic by Mutual Consent

According to informed sources, as reported by the Algerian newspaper Echourouk, the Algerian Football Federation (FAF) has reached an agreement with national coach Vladimir Petkovic to mutually terminate the contract between the two parties.

According to the same source, an agreement has been reached to grant the Swiss coach a financial compensation equivalent to three months' salary, in exchange for officially ending his duties at the helm of the Algerian national team.

The decision to part ways comes after a comprehensive assessment of the national team's performance during the recent phase, bringing an end to Petkovic's tenure with the 'Greens'. This opens the door for the federation to reorganize its technical staff and search for a new coach to lead the team in the upcoming period.

In this context, the National Technical Directorate has called on various stakeholders and experts to attend a technical assembly scheduled for next Thursday, aimed at reviewing the submitted files and discussing the available options for succeeding Petkovic.

The meeting is expected to address the technical and tactical criteria that must be met by the incoming coach, as well as the possibility of forming a coaching staff capable of handling the unique aspects of Algerian and African football, and fulfilling the fans' aspirations in upcoming competitions.

These developments place the Algerian Football Federation in a critical position to choose a successor to Petkovic, and to build a new technical project that ensures stability and brings the Algerian national team back into strong competition on the continental and international stage.
