Official: Patrick Vieira Appointed Senegal National Team Coach

The Senegalese Football Federation has officially announced via its account on "X" the appointment of Frenchman Patrick Vieira as the new head coach of the Senegal national team.

The Senegalese Football Federation has announced that Viera will take charge of the 'Lions of Teranga' in the upcoming phase. The official presentation date to the media will be announced later, along with the next steps regarding the start of his mission with the national team.

Vieira begins a new experiment in his coaching career, this time through the national teams, after previously experiencing several stints in club management.

The Senegalese Federation stated in its welcoming message: "Mr. Patrick Vieira is the new coach of the Senegal national team. The official presentation date and next steps regarding the start of his mission will be announced later. Welcome to Senegal."

Patrick Vieira has taken over as the head coach of the Senegal national team, succeeding Bab Sy who was dismissed following the team's participation in the 2026 World Cup.
