Szczesny Insists on Staying in Barcelona and Refuses to Leave Despite Offers

The Polish goalkeeper Wojciech Szczęsny insists on staying with FC Barcelona, rejecting the idea of leaving during the current period, despite receiving offers from other clubs that would have given him a greater opportunity to play as a starter.

Szczesny feels comfortable within the Catalan team and enjoys the coaching staff's confidence, despite his limited appearances this season. The 36-year-old goalkeeper insists he is not considering retirement at this stage.

Szczęsny joined Barcelona in 2024, a few months after announcing his retirement from football, before deciding to renew his contract last July, extending his stay at the club until the end of the next season.

According to what the Spanish newspaper "Sport" reported earlier, the Polish goalkeeper has decided to continue with Barcelona for the next season, aiming to complete his contract that extends until 2027, following mutual agreement with the club's management, which expressed its desire for him to stay.

Despite his current role as a backup to Juan Garcia, the Barcelona management views Szczesny as an important asset due to his extensive experience and professionalism, as well as his leadership role in the locker room and his contribution to guiding young players.
