Al-Zawraa Decides to Renew Luay Salah's Contract for Another Season
Sunday 26-04-2026
In a move aimed at reinforcing technical stability, Al-Zawraa Club officially announced the renewal of its coach Luay Salah's contract to lead the 'Nawras' for the next season, continuing the project he started as a successor to the Egyptian Imad Al-Nahhas.

The club issued an official statement saying: 'The management of Al-Zawraa Club renews its trust in coach Luay Salah for the next season.'

The statement added: 'The administrative body of Al-Zawraa Club renewed the contract of coach Luay Salah to lead the team in the next season in a move aimed at enhancing technical stability.'

The statement clarified that the decision did not come out of nowhere: 'The decision to renew came after consultations with the club's technical committee in light of the good levels the team has shown since Luay Salah took over the coaching duties during the current season, and the positive results achieved that contributed to improving the team's performance.'

The administration confirmed in its statement its absolute support for the technical staff: 'The administration confirmed that the renewal of the contract reflects its confidence in the technical staff and its keenness to maintain stability within the team, pointing out that the coach is granted full authority concerning his technical choices in a way that serves the club's ambitions in competing and achieving advanced results in the next season.'

It is noted that Luay Salah took over the leadership of Al-Zawraa during the current season, succeeding Egyptian coach Imad Al-Nahhas, at a time when the team was experiencing fluctuations in results and performance. Salah succeeded in gradually returning the 'Nawras' to the path of victories and instilled a 'one team culture' in the locker room as he described it himself.

Under his leadership, Al-Zawraa achieved a series of positive results in the recent rounds, raising its tally to 58 points in fourth place, and brought the team back to strong competition for a spot in the top four. Despite the recent disappointing 2-2 draw against Amanat Baghdad, the administration believes that the work Salah has done deserves continuity.

Al-Zawraa has suffered in past seasons from frequent changes of coaches, which affected the team's technical and administrative stability. The renewal for Salah reflects a new direction for the administration towards building a long-term project instead of temporary solutions.
