Luay Salah Comments Before the Match Against Diyala in the League
Tuesday 21-04-2026
Al-Zawraa Club held its press conference for the Diyala match within the 30th round of the Iraqi Stars League, scheduled for tomorrow evening, Wednesday, at Shaljiyah Stadium at 7:30 PM. The conference was attended by coach Luay Salah and returning midfield star Mohammed Qasim, who spoke candidly about the team's conditions and readiness for the match.

Al-Zawraa coach Luay Salah began his talk by emphasizing the difficulty of facing Diyala, saying: 'Facing Diyala is not without difficulty, and everyone seeks to excel against Al-Zawraa. All teams play against us with extra motivation, which doubles the responsibility on us.'

Salah praised the technical state the team has recently reached: 'We have gained tactical stability, and the players are performing their duties well. There is a clear development in collective performance and discipline on the field, which has been reflected in the results in recent rounds.'

However, the coach did not hide his team's suffering from frequent absences: 'We suffer from many and recurring absences in every match. We have not played any match with a full squad this season, and this is the cost of injuries and suspensions.' Salah revealed a long list of absences and doubts before the Diyala match: 'There are doubts about the participation of Hassan Abdul Karim, Brian, Karar Nabil, and Junior, with the absence of Dhurgham Ismail and Abdullah Naseeb, and the unpreparedness of Orah.'

Despite this, Salah expressed his full confidence in his group: 'We have confidence in all the players, and we are ready to achieve victory and complete the winning streak. Whoever plays will be up to the responsibility, and Al-Zawraa does not depend on one name.'

For his part, the team star returning from injury, Mohammed Qasim, spoke about the importance of the confrontation: 'We are expecting an important match against a respectable team with good players. Diyala is having a distinguished season and deserves respect, and we must be fully focused.'

Qasim agreed with his coach on the point of absences: 'We suffer from many absences in every match, and our ranks have not been complete in any match this season. This is difficult for any team, but we have become accustomed to dealing with it.'

The midfielder affirmed that Al-Zawraa's current strength lies in the mental aspect: 'We possess high tactical and mental stability, which compensates for the absences. The group understands each other well, and everyone fights for the team whether they are starters or substitutes.'

Qasim concluded by setting the team's goal for tomorrow's match: 'Our goal is to continue the winning streak and execute the coach's duties precisely. We want the three points to take a new step in the standings.'

Nevertheless, Mohammed Qasim's return to training gives the team a significant moral and technical boost. The 'Al-Nawras' enter tomorrow's match in fifth place with 54 points, 4 points away from the top four. A win against Diyala would be an important step in the race to catch up with the leading clubs, with 5 rounds remaining until the end.
