Friday 17-04-2026
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta emphasized the importance of the upcoming match against Manchester City in the English Premier League, stressing that his team always prepares to win.

Arteta pointed out that the team gained a significant morale boost after the Champions League semi-final, confirming that reaching this stage is an important achievement for the team.

Arteta said: 'The Champions League semi-final? It was a great night, it gave us a huge morale boost. Being among the elite European clubs is a big achievement, and we haven't been there often, so we truly appreciate this achievement, and we commend the players for what they have done. They must harness this enthusiasm and energy they gave us on Sunday in preparation for the big match ahead of us.'

He added: 'It is undoubtedly the most important because it is the next match. We deserved to be in this position, competing strongly and having a chance to win on Sunday against the best team and the best coach this league has ever seen. It is a great honor, and we are eager to play the match. We will prepare seriously to win, that is for sure, and we see it as a golden opportunity for us.'

Regarding the possibility of considering a draw as a positive result, he explained: 'We will not waste a second talking about that. We prepare for every match to win, and that is our goal, and we will continue with the same approach.'

About the difference between the two teams, he said: 'Our team must provide us with all the necessary tools and elements to win. We will face a very strong opponent, and we are fully aware of that. We have been training for this throughout nine months in all circumstances, and we have played many matches against them, and we know what we have to do.'

He also spoke about player Bernardo Silva, saying: 'An amazing player and an even greater person. The first time I saw him live was in a match between Paris Saint-Germain and Monaco, and I fell in love with him at first sight, not only because of his playing style but also because of his competitive spirit and passion for the game.'

He concluded his remarks by talking about what the team learned from the Carabao Cup match, saying: 'There were some moments where we struggled in that match, and we didn't make the right decisions. Sometimes we broke their pressure but did not capitalize on it. Every tactic has its problems and opportunities as well, and we will adapt to what they do and do the same.'
