Sorloth: A New Name on Barcelona's Table
Friday 17-04-2026
According to reports published by the Spanish newspaper "Mundo Deportivo," Barcelona continues to monitor the transfer market to strengthen the center-forward position, either as a potential replacement for Robert Lewandowski or to bolster the attack with a player capable of scoring goals, whether as a substitute or a main player depending on performance.

According to the same source, the name of Norwegian striker Alexander Sørloth, a player for Atlético Madrid, emerged among the proposed options.

The report indicated that Sørloth's contract with Atlético Madrid extends until 2028 and includes a release clause of 35 million euros. However, he is not a permanent starter, despite playing significant minutes with the team, due to the club's reliance on Julián Álvarez as the main striker, who is also being monitored by Barcelona.

The report highlighted that Sørloth is distinguished by his speed relative to his height, his ability in aerial play, in addition to his powerful and swift shots with his left foot. He is also known for being a team player who accepts the role of a substitute.

The Norwegian striker has previously scored against Barcelona on 7 occasions in 15 official matches, wearing the jerseys of Real Sociedad, Villarreal, and Atlético Madrid, and has also assisted 3 goals.

The report also noted that Sørloth was influential in the recent UEFA Champions League quarter-final against Barcelona, scoring a goal in the first leg at Camp Nou, which ended 2-0, and causing Eric Garcia's dismissal in the second leg at the Metropolitano Stadium.
