Enrique Cerezo, the president of Atlético Madrid, confirmed that forward Julián Álvarez will remain with the team for a long time, while also praising the players' performance ahead of the crucial match against Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League.

Cerezo explained in a press statement that what pleased him in the first leg was not just the victory, but also the performance the team delivered, emphasizing that Alvarez stood out and played a strong match.

He said, "What made me very happy was the result as well as the team's performance in the first leg." Julian's brilliance and continuation with the team "Yes, he played a great match. And yes, he will stay with us for a long time."

Regarding the criticisms directed at Simeone: "I don't think there's any reason to criticize Simeone. We certainly have no criticisms of him. He is a great coach and we are very happy with him."

He added, "I hope so, and I'm even sure it will continue."

He continued: "I don't like talking about referees. As you know, this is not the first time I've said I don't like VAR technology. I am a supporter of the referee making decisions based on what he sees, and he should be allowed to work calmly."

Regarding Barcelona's desire to return, he said: "They will also come with a strong desire to return, but they are not the only ones ready for everything. We also have a great desire to win. We have prepared well for this match, worked hard, and hope to deliver a great performance."

He continued in his speech: "In truth, I have no doubts. I am convinced that we will play a great match and qualify. I am sure we will perform better than in the first leg, no doubt about it."

He concluded his speech: "Yes, Antoine is a great champion, and we are very happy to have a player of his quality. When the day comes for him to leave Atletico, we will bid him farewell in a manner befitting what he has contributed to the club."
