Newcastle United Football Club announced the departure of its captain, Kieran Trippier, from the team at the end of his contract this summer, after spending four and a half years with the club.

The English club stated in its announcement: "After four and a half years of outstanding service to Newcastle United, we can confirm that Kieran Trippier will leave the club this summer upon the expiration of his contract."

He added: "Kieran arrived in January 2022 when the club was in the relegation zone, and he played a crucial role as he managed to lift the club's first local cup in 70 years."

The player said: "It's time to leave this great club after four and a half years. I have felt more at home here than anywhere else. It's emotional for me, and I will miss it a lot."

He concluded: "I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to the fans for their great support during both good and difficult times. You have always been by my side and continuously offered me support."
