Camões: I Didn't Have Enough Time to Train with Al Ahly or Get to Know My Teammates
Wednesday 25-03-2026
Angolan player Yelson Camões of Al Ahly revealed the reason for his poor performance with the Reds since joining them in the last winter transfer window.

Camões said in statements via a Portuguese podcast: "The Al Ahly experience so far? I wouldn't say it's been the easiest period, because the club itself has a very significant media presence, and any player who comes here has very high expectations. I also didn't arrive under the easiest circumstances, as I was with Tromsø during the season's preparation period, and I had only undergone two weeks of training before coming here."

He continued: "Here, the team was almost in the middle of the season, with many matches during the weeks, and I didn't have enough time to train well or fully get to know my teammates and adapt to them. It was a matter of a recovery day, then one or two days of training, then a match."

He added: "I think I've been here for about a month, and yet I might have only had one full week of training. The rest of the time was all travel, matches, and recovery. This makes adapting a bit more difficult."

He continued: "I am convinced that the harmony between me and my teammates is the key to improving performance. However, one cannot overlook the magnitude of the club and the enormous media and fan pressure that accompanies it, along with continuous interaction on social media platforms; it is undoubtedly a rich and positive experience, but it requires a lot of effort to adapt to it."
