According to the Spanish newspaper 'Mundo Deportivo', the committee published a video at the time of review, which clarified the details of the controversial incident, where referee José Monuera Montero did not hesitate to expel the player after his challenge on Alex Baena.

The referee's report stated that the expulsion was due to kicking an opposing player, without the ball being in play, and using excessive force, which the committee considered an accurate description of the situation.

The committee explained that Valverde intervened from behind in a late manner, hitting the opponent's ankle without a real chance to play the ball, which falls under dangerous violent play. It also confirmed that the video technology reviewed the incident from several angles and at different speeds, concluding that the field decision was correct, without a clear error requiring intervention.

The referees committee emphasized that the expulsion decision was correct both on the field and after video technology review, in an official confirmation of the correctness of the officiating crew's decisions in this incident.
