Flick: Our Focus is on the Next Match, and This is the Situation with Eric and Juan Garcia
Saturday 21-03-2026
Hans Flick, the head coach of Barcelona, appeared in the press conference ahead of the match against Rayo Vallecano as part of the 29th round of the Spanish League, scheduled to take place tomorrow, Sunday, at 3 PM Egypt time at Spotify Camp Nou.

Flick said: "The most important thing is to win against Rayo Vallecano. We need to focus on this match, and it won't be easy. After that, we will see what happens, as it is not in our hands."

He continued: "Xavi Espart has confidence and seems to have a very low heart rate that suits his style of play. He needs a good mentality and could be an excellent option for us."

He added about the team's schedule and planning for the season: "We need all the players until the end, and we don't know what will happen after that. There is enough time, and there is the World Cup. I believe in my players, Cancelo, Rashford, Gerrard, they give us quality, and the others as well. We will talk at the end and see what happens. Now is not the time to decide who I want and who I don't want, anything is possible."

Flick also spoke about the development of Gerard Martin: "Gerard is a great example of what can be achieved with effort and perseverance. We studied him when I arrived because we needed a left-back, and I talked with Deco and Bojan. My personal team analyzed all the Barcelona Athletic players and the qualifying matches, and I liked what I saw from him. He has improved a lot, and what I see from him is amazing."

Regarding the goal-scoring recovery of Ferran Torres and Lewandowski, Flick said: "The most important thing is to maintain dynamism and activity. Ferran was good in training, I see him confident, at another level, and making an effort to return to his peak performance."

Regarding the international break, he added: "We will train during the break, but we will give rest to those who stay. The injured players will continue with their usual training. It's positive for players to be with their national teams; there is a World Cup and everyone wants to participate. It's good to break away from the routine to return with more energy."

Regarding the players' condition, he said: "Eric will be on the bench and might not play, but he will be there, which is good news. Juan Garcia can play tomorrow, and I'm happy for him being called up to the national team."

Flick emphasized about the opponent team: "Rayo Vallecano plays the same way whether at home or away. It is an experienced team and plays intensely."
