Thursday 05-03-2026
The election committee for the Spanish club Barcelona elections announced the continuation of only two candidates in the race for the presidency of the Catalan club, following the completion of the review process of the signatures submitted by the candidates, while one candidate officially exited the competition.

Both Joan Laporta and Victor Font will continue to compete for the presidency of Barcelona, after both succeeded in surpassing the minimum number of valid signatures required to run in the elections, which is 2,337 signatures.

On the other hand, candidate Marc Ciria exited the election race after failing to reach the required number of validated signatures, leading to his official exclusion from the competition for the club's presidency.

The Catalan club revealed the results of the validation process of the signatures submitted by the candidates, with Joan Laporta submitting 8,170 signatures, of which 7,226 were validated.

As for Victor Font, he submitted 5,144 signatures, with 4,440 being validated after review by the election committee.

In contrast, Marc Ciria submitted 2,845 signatures, but only 2,247 were validated, which is below the minimum required to participate in the elections.

The presidential elections for Barcelona are scheduled to take place on March 15, with an anticipated competition between Victor Font and former Barcelona president Joan Laporta.
