Wydad Athletic Club achieved an important victory over its guest, Maniema from Congo, with a score of one to zero, in the match that took place on Sunday evening at the sports complex, as part of the third round of the group stage of the CAF Confederation Cup.

The match witnessed the first appearance of Moroccan international Hakim Ziyech as a starter in the Wydad jersey, after joining the team last October and being officially registered with the start of the winter transfer window, an event that captured the attention of the Red Club's fans.

Wydad entered the match with clear offensive momentum, dominating the first half and creating several scoring opportunities, the most notable being Walid Nassi's shot that Maniema's goalkeeper saved from the goal line, ending the first half in a goalless draw.

At the start of the second half, the Moroccan team continued its offensive pressure, benefiting from the movements of Nordin Amrabat and Walid Nassi, along with repeated attempts by Hakim Ziyech, who almost opened the scoring in the 73rd minute if not for the brilliance of the Congolese goalkeeper.

On the other hand, Maniema was limited to attempts that did not pose a real threat to Wydad's goal. In the 81st minute, the changes made by coach Mohamed Amin Benhachem resulted in the winning goal, scored by Mohamed Moufid.

Wydad maintained their lead during the final minutes, emerging victorious with a clean sheet, which allowed them to take the lead in Group B with nine points, while Maniema remained in second place with six points.
