Details of Al Ahly's Withdrawal from the Fakhouri Deal
The journalist Ahmed Shobeir revealed the reason for Al-Ahmar's withdrawal from the deal for the Jordanian star Awda Al-Fakhouri, a player for Al-Hussein Irbid of Jordan.
Shobeir said on Facebook: "Al-Ahly started negotiations a very long time ago. The player had a release clause in his contract of $150,000. Out of respect for his Jordanian club, Al-Ahly refused to exploit this clause and agreed with the club to pay $300,000. After that, the club postponed the deal under the pretext of waiting for an external offer."
He continued: "Then Pyramids entered the negotiations and made an offer reaching up to one million dollars, according to what the Jordanian club Al-Ahly was informed. If you need the player, we have an offer from Pyramids for one million dollars! Al-Ahly rejected this method of negotiation and decided to withdraw from the deal."
Al Ahly secured a victory over its Tanzanian counterpart Young Africans with a 2-0 win yesterday, Friday, in the third round of the group stage of the CAF Champions League.
