Yess Torop: My Experience with Al Ahly Was Exceptional

Genk's management has officially announced a change in the coaching staff, ending the tenure of coach Nicky Hayen and bringing back Danish manager Yes Torup. Torup has signed a contract that will keep him at the club for three seasons, running until the summer of 2029.

In his first media appearance since his return, Turab focused on the stark contrast between his exceptional coaching stint with Al Ahly SC and the motivations behind his swift decision to accept the challenge of the Belgian league once again.

Torup stated in comments reported by Belgian outlet Nieuwsblad: "I was in Egypt working with Al Ahly, a club with a fan base of 80 million supporters, and yet I made a quick decision to return to Genk and sign a 3-year contract, because I still aspire to achieve more success here."

Regarding his plan to prepare the team, the Danish coach stated: "Of course, I always prefer winning over losing, but preparation matches give you a clearer picture when facing strong opponents. The players have realized that there is a lot of work ahead of us, and no one will enter the season feeling complacent."

He added: "We will play two friendly matches, and I want every player to get enough minutes on the pitch. I don't have a starting team and a substitute team; we are trying to experiment with some things and build understanding among all the players. I don't like those who think they have secured their place; everyone must always fight to prove their worth."

Torup concluded his statements by outlining his main goal with Genk, saying: "We want to qualify for European competitions, this club must always be present on the continental stage."
