The Reason Behind Mohamed Sula's Rejection of the Libyan Al-Ittihad Offer and Choosing Iraqi Zakho
Friday 16-01-2026
International Libyan star Mohamed Sula rejected a tempting offer from the Libyan club Al-Ittihad during the current winter transfer window, preferring to embark on a new experience in the Iraqi Stars League through the gate of Zakho Club, despite the Iraqi offer being financially lower.

Zakho Club officially announced in recent hours its signing of the 32-year-old Libyan international winger, coming from Kuwaiti club Al-Qadsia, on a free transfer deal for a season and a half, to strengthen the team with one of the most prominent attacking names in Libyan football in recent years.

Mohamed Sula's departure from Al-Qadsia followed a strained relationship between the two parties, due to a disciplinary punishment imposed by the Disciplinary Committee of the Kuwaiti Football Association, which involved suspending the player for eight matches and fining him 1000 Kuwaiti dinars, following the incident in the Al-Salmiya match last November, after which the player decided to end his experience in the Kuwaiti league.

After leaving Al-Qadsia, the Libyan club Al-Ittihad strongly entered the negotiation line, based on the desire of its Tunisian coach Khaled Ben Yahia to strengthen the team's forward line during the winter market, but the player surprised everyone by rejecting the offer, despite its high financial value, sparking controversy among the Libyan club's fans.

Exclusive sources to the winwin platform revealed that the reason for Sula's refusal to move to Al-Ittihad is due to his previous affiliation with Al-Ahli Tripoli Club and his keenness not to play for any local rival club, given his great popularity among Al-Ahli fans, which pushed him to prefer continuing his professional career outside the Libyan league.

The sources added that Al-Ittihad was not the only club negotiating with the player, as Al-Suwaihli Club also entered serious negotiations to sign him, but Mohamed Sula ultimately decided to move to Iraqi fields and experience a new challenge with Zakho Club, seeking artistic stability and continuing his professional career.

Mohamed Sula has a rich record in Gulf and Arab leagues, as he began his career with Al-Ahli Tripoli in 2015, before moving to Muharraq Club in Bahrain in 2018, where he won several titles, most notably the league, super cup, and elite championship, then had another experience with Al-Riffa Club in Bahrain.

In 2021, he moved to Tunisian club CS Sfaxien, before joining Kuwaiti club Al-Arabi in January 2023, scoring 30 goals in various competitions, then continued his brilliance with Al-Qadsia, contributing to the team's crowning with the Kuwait Emir Cup for the thirteenth time in the club's history.

Zakho Club relies heavily on Mohamed Sula's experience and technical abilities to lead the attacking line during the upcoming phase of the Iraqi Stars League, as the team seeks to continue its positive results and compete strongly in the second half.
