Air Force Defeats Zakho and Officially Wins the League Title
Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya clinched the 2025/2026 Iraqi Stars League title after their thrilling 3-2 victory over Zakho in the final round 38 of the league, in a match held at the People's International Stadium in front of a large crowd that filled the stands.
The match started quickly for the Falcons, with Issam Al-Subhi opening the scoring in the ninth minute, followed by Al-Harith Hatem adding the second goal in the 19th minute, ending the first half with Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya leading by two clean goals.
At the start of the second half, Zakho attempted to get back into the match, and Hadi Saleh succeeded in narrowing the gap with a goal in the 63rd minute. However, Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya came back and scored the third goal through Mustafa Walid in the 83rd minute, before Lucas Matheus concluded the goal festival by scoring Zakho's second goal in the 97th minute of injury time.
With this result, Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya finished the league at the top of the standings with 89 points, declaring themselves the official champions for the 2025/2026 season. Meanwhile, Zakho remained in the same eighth position with 56 points after this defeat.
