Zakho Secures Uzbek Forward Sherzod Taimirov

In a significant transfer move, Zakho has officially signed Uzbek striker Sherzod Taimirov from Erbil, marking the first major signing for the "Sons of Khabour" as they prepare for the new season of the Iraqi Premier League.

Taimirov's contract with Erbil ended at the conclusion of last season, allowing him to enter the market as a free agent. Despite receiving several offers from local Iraqi clubs and abroad, Zakho's management acted swiftly to secure the deal and finalize the contracts.

The Uzbek forward will represent Zakho starting from the 2026-2027 season, as the management aims to enhance the team's scoring ability and compete for top positions.

Sherzod Taimirov was not an ordinary name last season. The 27-year-old Uzbek was crowned the top scorer of the Iraqi Premier League, netting 28 goals while playing for Erbil, significantly outpacing his closest rivals.
