Mohamed Salah, captain of the Egyptian national team, delivered a below-par performance during the match against Senegal, which ended in a 1-0 defeat for the Pharaohs. The game was part of the semi-final stage of the Africa Cup of Nations currently being held in Morocco.

According to Opta, the statistics network, Mohamed Salah recorded a rare negative statistic by failing to touch the ball inside the penalty area throughout the entire match against Senegal. This was the first time this happened in his Africa Cup of Nations appearances, provided he played more than 45 minutes.

The only goal of the match came in favor of the Senegal national team through Sadio Mané, the Al-Nassr player, who fired a powerful shot into the net in the 78th minute, leading the "Lions of Teranga" to the final at the expense of the Egyptian team.

This marks the fifth time Mohamed Salah has been eliminated without winning the Africa Cup of Nations title since his debut with the Egyptian national team in the 2017 edition. Meanwhile, the Pharaohs are preparing to play the third-place match against the loser of the Morocco vs. Nigeria game, scheduled for next Saturday.
