CaughtOffside reported that Aston Villa has become the latest Premier League club to show interest in Egyptian player Omar Marmoush, closely monitoring his current situation with Manchester City.

The report explained that this interest comes after Tottenham initially expressed a desire to sign Marmoush, the player who has yet to fully break through with his sky-blue team.

Marmoush joined Manchester City in January 2024, coming from Eintracht Frankfurt in a deal worth around 70 million euros, following a successful period in the German Bundesliga. He was known for his versatility in playing multiple positions and his scoring ability.

However, his appearances for City have been limited so far, with Marmoush starting only two Premier League matches and one Champions League game, while most of his appearances have come off the bench due to intense competition for attacking spots and Guardiola’s rotation policy.

The report pointed out that Aston Villa, under Unai Emery, seeks to ensure sufficient depth in its squad to compete domestically and in Europe. Marmoush’s ability to play centrally or on the wing is an attractive advantage for the team, especially with their participation in several competitions.

Nevertheless, Manchester City views Marmoush as a long-term option and does not wish to let him leave mid-season. Pep Guardiola values his flexibility and high pressing intensity, particularly given the congested fixture schedule and potential injuries in the final phase of the season.

The same source added that any potential transfer in January becomes more difficult due to Marmoush currently playing with the Egyptian national team in the Africa Cup of Nations. The report confirms that the player is focused on proving himself at Manchester City and earning Guardiola’s trust, with no indications of a desire to leave at this time.
