João Cancelo Rejects Barcelona's Proposal
Journalist Tony Juan Marti confirmed that there are no current negotiations between Barcelona and João Cancelo, the player of the Saudi club Al Hilal, who is expected to leave the team in the current transfer window.
The source added that the Catalan club proposed that the player take a significant pay cut, but the Portuguese star rejected this offer, making his transfer to Camp Nou unlikely at the moment.
Martí added that Barcelona informed the player's agent, Jorge Mendes, of the club's desire for Saudi club Al-Hilal to cover 50% of Cancelo's salary in an attempt to facilitate the deal; however, the player was not willing to accept any reduction in his wages.
Inter Milan is leading the race to sign Cancelo as a replacement for the injured Denzel Dumfries. The player is also open to the idea of moving to Inter because he would be a starter, and the Italian club is ready to meet his financial demands.
