The Spanish newspaper "Mundo Deportivo" revealed that Croatian player Josko Gvardiol is on Barcelona's shortlist as the club seeks to sign a new defender in the upcoming transfer window.

The newspaper explained that the Blaugrana management prefers to wait for now, awaiting the player's stance and decision before taking any official steps or starting direct negotiations.

The same sources confirmed that Barcelona's task will not be easy, as Gvardiol is an important player in Manchester City's lineup and enjoys the trust of the coaching staff, in addition to the high expected financial value required to complete the deal.

Barcelona's interest in Gvardiol comes as part of the club's plan to strengthen the defense, especially given the injuries the team has suffered this season, as well as the departure of Iñigo Martínez last summer without signing a replacement.
