Barcelona's Plan to Increase the Capacity of Spotify Camp Nou Stadium
Friday 26-12-2025
The management of FC Barcelona is continuing the expansion work of the Spotify Camp Nou stadium intensively and without interruption, even during the holiday period, in an effort to increase the stadium's capacity as soon as possible.

The Spanish newspaper "Sport" revealed that Barcelona may increase the capacity of its stadium by 17,000 spectators before the upcoming match against Oviedo, benefiting from the team playing several away games, which facilitates the completion of the work, in addition to the possibility of the club obtaining the necessary permits from the municipality to open the northern section of the stadium.

The Catalan team returns to La Liga competition on January 3rd at the Cornella stadium to face Espanyol, before heading to Saudi Arabia to participate in the Super Cup, where they will meet Athletic Bilbao on January 7th in the semi-final. Their opponent in the Round of 16 of the Copa del Rey is yet to be determined.

The league matches are scheduled to resume on January 18 with a game at the Reale Arena, followed by a match against Slavia Prague on January 21. Then, Barcelona will host their game at Spotify Camp Nou on January 25, which could see an attendance of around 62,000 spectators, as they prepare for the crucial UEFA Champions League match on January 28 against Copenhagen.

Barcelona's management expects to complete the first and second phases of the expansion soon, with the third phase to be added next season. This will bring the stadium's total capacity to 105,000 spectators, making Spotify Camp Nou the largest in Europe in terms of capacity and strengthening the Catalan club's position both athletically and economically.
