UEFA Reduces Lucas Hernandez's Suspension
Sunday 21-12-2025
The European Football Union announced a reduction in the suspension penalty imposed on Paris Saint-Germain defender Lucas Hernandez, following the acceptance of the appeal submitted by the French club.

Hernández was sent off during the Paris Saint-Germain match against Tottenham after elbowing Xavi Simons, resulting in a preliminary decision to suspend him for three matches in European competitions.

UEFA explained that after reviewing the appeal, the decision of the Control, Ethics, and Disciplinary Body issued on December 3, 2025, was amended to reduce the suspension to only two matches instead of three, due to an assault on an opposing player.

Under this decision, Lucas Hernandez is now eligible to participate with Paris Saint-Germain in the final group stage match of the UEFA Champions League against Newcastle.
