Barcelona Moves to Renew Hans Flick's Contract Until 2028

The Spanish newspaper "Sport" revealed that FC Barcelona has begun serious steps to extend the contract of their German coach Hans Flick, in an effort to ensure the stability of the sports project and prevent entering the next season with only one year remaining on his contract.

According to the newspaper, Barcelona's management offered Flick an extension of his contract for at least one more season, making it valid until June 2028. The club does not want the coach to continue on a short-term contract, while Flick, for his part, prefers an extension for a limited period without long-term contracts.

The Spanish newspaper explained that Flick is considered one of club president Joan Laporta's most successful bets, having succeeded in revitalizing the team despite limited signings, improving the team's performance and results, with a clear reliance on young players and bringing Barcelona back into European competition.

The report added that the negotiations made progress during the recent meeting between Flick's agent, Pini Zahavi, and Laporta in Barcelona, as the club aims to finalize the extension before the presidential elections, given the internal consensus on the importance of retaining the German coach.

The report confirmed that Flick enjoys full support from the dressing room and the sports management led by Deco, who always prefers to secure contracts early to avoid any instability, amid a firm conviction within the club about the necessity of the German coach's continuation in the medium term.
